3 Marketing Tips if You’re Looking for a New Job
1. Do your homework beforehand. It seems obvious but you’d be surprised by how many people don’t do this. Start with the company’s website and then do a broader Google search. Look for recent articles in industry publications. Let them know you did your research to learn about the company and its challenges.
2. Zero in on the company’s culture. Check out their social media pages and watch a few videos. Read company reviews on Glassdoor. Use that intel and offer strong examples of why you want to work there. “It’s close to my house” won’t cut it. A better answer is, “You work with some really cool clients.” Key in on what really interests and excites you and show enthusiasm for wanting to be part of the team.
3. Dress for success even if your interview is virtual. And pull it all together as far as your mindset is concerned too, even if you’re wearing a shirt on top of sweatpants. Sure they can’t see ‘below the fold’ but it will make you feel more poised and prepared to win the interview.
It’s a given also, send a thank-you letter. It can be the key to getting a job offer. Besides reinforcing that you really want the job, it also gives you an opportunity to overcome objections and restate how your skills and experience can make significant contributions.
