Does getting backlinks seem like an incredible chore?

Backlinks help build traffic and visitors to your website, so what marketer doesn’t love them? Sometimes, it seems like an impossible task given everything else you’re doing.  Make it a consistent part of your action plan with these 4 marketing tips.

4 Marketing Strategies to get High-Quality Backlinks

  1. Check out your competition. Where are they getting their backlinks? If you’re not in the same space, maybe you should be. It’s a good idea anyway to review your competition weekly to see where they are and what they’re doing. You don’t have to mirror everything, but it’s best to be educated so there are no surprises.
  2. Add new links and products to existing blogs. Or feature another website’s list. Give them a heads up and let them know you’re featuring them in advance, so you can get a shout out. In some cases, you might also get a backlink. But remember, it’s not a done deal, even if they say yes. Priorities change minute by minute.
  3. Think about guest podcasting. It requires very little prep work and it allows you to tap into an already established.  Make sure your audience is aligned, and that your subject matter is in sync with their main focus and brand. It’s pretty straight forward. Not sure how you’ll sound, write some questions and record a mock interview on your phone.
  4. Write a report with exclusive research. New data and insight are both valuable to the media and your target market. Promoted the right way, a special report is a great way to get attention and media links. But it’s a lot of work. Find a partner so you can divide the work, but both get the benefit. Co-branding works.

If you’re featuring new content, mention industry influencers and community members. Then, you can ask them to share the content with their network and followers.
