4 Steps for Building the Perfect Marketing Strategy
- Define your ideal customer. You might think that all paying customers are ideal, but some are better than others. Look at your sales. Who brought in the most money and provided the highest profit margins? Who was easy to deal with and who was a headache (or PIA)? Research your current customers and see who you like when seeking out new ones.
- Zero in on your customer’s marketing channels. Once you’ve determined your ideal buyer, zero in on the marketing channels they use. Do your research. Are they in a demographic that uses social media? Are you more likely to find them through paid ads? This will help you figure out where to focus your time and resources.
- Survey what similar brands are doing. Case studies can provide information on the most successful marketing strategies. Seeing what others in your industry are doing may open your mind to new ideas and tactics. If they’re working, it’s worth a look.
- Use your research to make informed decisions. Develop a marketing plan and then give it time to work. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t get results in the first quarter. It takes six months to a year for a new marketing strategy to gain enough traction to show results.
